I've had another photography kickstart, in that I've blown monies on a brand new toy - a Sigma 30mm f1.4. Which, as I am finding, is a very sexy lens indeed. It's such an awesome thing to have an aperture that opens so wide!
The only complaint that I have is that the autofocus is off when the aperture is maxed. Suppose that I'll have to actually get good at doing things manually then - really that will only benefit me.
I'm trying to think of a photography project so that I can motivate myself to use this more. I know that Project 365 is something that is recommended, but really it's pretty hard to do that every day with the work I do. And I trail off when I try Project52.

Life has taken over, and I've been drifting in and out of artsy endeavours as it allows me.

No fear, I venture out yet again with my camera tomorrow!
Ciao.
analouge tryouts.
I bought a Yashica J7 hailing from the 1960s on eBay. An excellent vintage - pretty dresses and nice suits. And nice cameras too, as it seems.
Or at least, it looks good. It takes pretty nice pictures, too. But the lens is full of dust and is rather scratched, as is the mirror etc etc. I had to photoshop the hell out of those pictures to get rid of all the artifacts, and even then they still remain.
Unfortunately it appears that this will be a nice antique to sit on the shelf, instead of being put to actual use. Shame. Oh well, have to wait until I earn some more money and trawl through eBay for another manual film camera. I'm developing a
fail.
I tried to do a photo-a-day project but ended up failing miserably.
So, I'm trying again, but it will be a Photo-A-Week project (or at least to do the photo-assignments!). It seems a shame to have such an awesome camera (it's my baaaby) and not use it. That's the thing with being a girl - it's not like an SLR will fit in your handbag. But you know, I used to be so arty, and it's a waste that university and un-arty friends has bred that out of me. My boyfriend is adamant that I should retrain my arty-ness, and while I haven't drawn in so long that it's long gone, at least I do still have some skillz with my camera. So, in summary, I will use
